Blümchen peermusic BiographiesDuring the first Blümchen era, from 1995 to 2001, all of Blüchen's songs were published by peermusic. Below are several official biographies published on peermusic's web site during that time, lightly edited to fix typos and punctuation. 1997She's really just your typical girl from Hamburg. Jasmin's her name, 16 years old and still in school but taking a break from school for now. She loves animals and music and fills her spare time with cheerleading, dancing, roller skating and hanging out with her friends. There is one small difference between her and other kids her age: Jasmin is now a rising star in star heaven. At the age of 12, Blossom was already tra-la-la-ing in the school choir and secretely dreaming of someday becoming a professional singer. A few years later, this dream was a reality. It all started when her friends took her to a 'New German Wave' party where she made the acquaintance of producer team Paralyzer and Stani Djukanovic. Knocked out by her magnetism, her passion, and most of all by her voice, Paralyzer and Stani were determined to bring Blossom into the studio and to shoot her to stardom. And the old Paso Doble song would be the vehicle to carry her. Since then the media have been won over by Blossom, too. Radio, TV and the press loved Blossom from the word go. And thanks to her steadily growing throng of fans, she immediately skyrocketed into the top of the German single charts. The first single "Herz a Herz" (Heart to Heart) was #4 in German charts and her second single 'Kleiner Satelit (Piep Piep)' (Little Satellite) hit its peak position in the German charts at #9.The album "Herzfrequenz" (Heartbeat) hit a chart position of #18. "Boomerang" the third single top hit was released and went up to #11.
Blossom's new single, "You and I" has been released and keeps moving. There's no doubt in our minds that Blossom will delight us with many more beautiful heartbreakers in the years to come.... Blümchen/Blossom is now included in EMI Germany's "Queen Dance Traxx" campaign whereby she sings the wonderful Queen title "Bicycle Race" in typical 'German rave' quality. This production enjoys tremendous success in Germany and will be helpful for Blümchen;'s international career.
1998Just over three years ago 15-year old Jasmin Wagner was no different from any of her fellow schoolmates, with the possible exception of her unusual nickname. A name, which nowadays everyone in Germany knows, the singing schoolgirl who has become Germany's most successful artist. Jasmin discovered her love of music at an early age, though her singing talent back then was reserved exclusively for her teachers and schoolmates when the school choir gave a performance. This soon changed when she was "discovered" in the classic sense: during a Neue Deutsche Welle (New German Wave) party in Hamburg. Producers Stani 'Silence' Djukanovic and Arn 'Paralyzer' Schlürmann noticed her talent. They loved her spirited and natural manner and invited Jasmin to do some sample recordings in a studio. The result after a few weeks of hard studio work, was a single that climbed to No. 4 in the German charts within a few weeks and in March 1996 was awarded a Gold Disc for over 340,000 copies sold. Herz an Herz (Heart to Heart) is a new version in rave style of the NDW classic by Paso Doble. By Spring '96 it was clear that Blümchen and her producer team had hit a nerve with her music when her singles Kleiner Satellit (Piep Piep) (Little Satelllite, Beep Beep) and Boomerang got into the Top Ten. In May she released her first album on the edel label, Herzfrequenz (Heart Frequency), which remained on the charts for nearly a year and went Gold in Spring of '97. Her success was completed with two top hits in the form of Du und Ich (You and I) and Bicycle Race, Blümchen's contribution to the Queen Dance Traxx Project. Following her success of the previous year, Blümchen was showered with awards and superlatives. She was presented with the official German record industry prize, the ECHO as "Most Successful German Female Artist 1996" and BRAVO Magazine gave her the GOLDEN OTTO award as "Best Female Singer" when a large majority of readers voted her to first place – ahead of superstars like Mariah Carey, Madonna and Tina Turner! Readers of POPCORN and POP/ROCKY magazines also chose her as "Best Female Singer of 1996" and Radio Schleswig-Holstein presented her with the "Best German-language Female Artist 1996" prize, the coveted RSH Gold Award. After producing 5 top hits, Blümchen released a remake of the Nena classic Nur Geträumt (Just Dreamed) in April '97. As the first single off her second album Verliebt (In Love), the song shot up to No. 6 of the German singles chart just two weeks after release. At the 198 bpm Blümchen's hit Verrückte Jungs (Crazy Boys) is her fastest selling single to date. The album Verliebt went to No. 7 in the charts directly after its release in May '97 and the young Hamburg artist's first tour of Germany, at the age of 17, was a triumphant success. Today, Blümchen is one of the most popular and successful teen acts in Germany and the media have made her one of their all-time favourites. From Bravo to VIVAmusic TV to the popular mainstream TV programme Wetten, dass... - Jasmin is a popular guest everywhere and she has also been active herself as a presenter. For a while she had her own radio programme at the Fritz station in Berlin, and she has co-presented the Heart Attack Show on RTL2 with Jasmin Gerat. Blümchen has also received recognition from other areas: German scene artists like Andreas Dorau, Headcrash, Die Sterne, Holger Hiller and many more all play tribute to the Blümchen boom on their Für Jasmin remix album. Her first ballad Gib Mir Noch Zeit (Give Me More Time) was released in September '97. The single includes a wonderful mix by the successful Münchener Freiheit producer Stefan Zauner. This mix produced a song with which Blümchen has taken the whole nation by storm. In time for Sesame Street's 25th Birthday, Jasmin turned to a special theme and released Sesam-Jam (Der, Die, Das) to honor this occasion. Jasmin is no doubt teens' favourite artist. She is slated to receive the GOLDEN OTTO Award again this year from Bravo as "Best Female Singer" and POPCORN and POP/ROCKY readers have voted her the most popular female singer for the second year running. She accepted the RSH Gold Award as "Most Successful German-language Female Artist of the Year 1997" in February. Her second album Verliebt went Gold in Germany and Austria and has been nominated yet again for the ECHO Award as "Best German Female Singer". Besides appearing at various festivals and working on a new album, Jasmin, she's been touring throughout Germany. She's quite a busy girl...... May 2000When the 15 year old Hamburg school girl, Jasmin Wagner, first popped up in the Media Control sales charts in November, 1995 with a high-spirited rave/pop remake of Paso Doble's German New Wave hit, "Herz An Herz" (Heart To Heart), which eventually reached No. 4 in the charts, not even the cleverest music gurus could predict the course the pretty newcomer's career would take. Indeed, while many of her "hit parade colleagues" from those days have completely given up making music, and others are seeking their underground identity in quasi-credible sound experiments, Blümchen (Blossom) metamorphosed into one of the most interesting and productive German pop acts of the 90s within less than three years. The young singer can already point to over a dozen hit singles, two gold albums and numerous prestigious awards. In light of this track record one really must admit that Blümchen's discoverers, Stani "Silence" Djukanovic and Arn "Paralyzer" Schlürmann, really have a competent nose for talent. The Hamburg-based producers first met Jasmin at a German New Wave party in the Hanseatic city and were immediately enthralled by her naturalness and spirit. Did the team have a premonition that this schoolgirl would also be able to perform in front of thousands of enthusiastic teenagers (during her extensive tours) and to millions of viewers (in interviews, as talk guest in such hit TV programs as "Wetten dass....", or as mistress of ceremony of the RTL "Mini-Playback Show" and Disney Film Parade)? In the meantime it is evident that Blümchen has been gifted with a rare and exceptional natural talent in both musicality and communication. After all: how many very talented artists, especially here in Germany, are not successful because they are not able to properly place themselves in the public eye? And how often have we seen charming media darlings who are incapable of recording a reasonable hit single, not even to mention an entire chart album? But back to Blümchen. The winner of numerous Bravo "Otto Awards" will turn 20 this year and has already released four albums. In the wake of the first three LPs ("Herzfrequenz", "Verliebt" and "Jasmin") (Heart Frequency, In Love, Jasmin) her first live album, "Blümchen - Live In Berlin" was released at the end of 1999, which includes such trademark classics as "Boomerang", "Herz An Herz", Gib Mir Noch Zeit" (Give Me More Time) and many more. In March, 1999, Blümchen was awarded the German Phono Academy's Echo Award for the second time in the category "Best National Female Artist 1998". Two years prior she also was awarded the same prize and she has again been nominated for the prize this year. After two gold albums and 14 hit singles! Things grew quiet around Blümchen in Germany about a year ago - she spent some time in the USA and toured Northern Europe. Norway and Sweden had picked up on Blümchen's sound - in Norway Blümchen ended the old millennium at the top of the singles charts with "Heut' Ist Mein Tag" (Today Is My Day). The song went gold in Sweden in November of 1999. In Germany she released the power-packed Christmas single, "Unter'm Weihnachtsbaum" (Under A Christmas Tree). Now spring has sprung and that, as everybody knows, is just the right time for "Blossoms". She is ready with a new, somewhat softer sound. The new single, "Ist Deine Liebe Echt?" (Is Your Love Real) is not a 180 degree turn from Blümchen - but the prominent 180 bpm have been toned down a bit. It is more a groovy pop sound, that will accompany us through the summer. Blümchen's fourth German tour is scheduled for the end of 2000. This will give her the opportunity to personally present her newest hits from her new album to be released this summer and many other songs to her fans.
June 2000When, in November 1995, the 15-year-old Hamburg schoolgirl Jasmin Wagner first hit the German Media Control charts with an upbeat rave-pop version of the "Paso Doble" German New Wave hit "Herz An Herz" (which eventually reached number 4), even the most knowledgeable music expert would not have been able to predict how the career of this attractive newcomer would develop in the following years. But whilst many of her contemporaries in the charts completely ended their musical careers and others sought salvation underground in more or less credible sound experiments, Blümchen has, in less than three years, established herself as one of the most interesting and productive German pop acts of the nineties. Amongst many things the singer can boast a dozen hit singles, two gold albums and numerous prestigious awards. With this in mind we have to credit Blümchen's discoverers Stani "Silence" Djukanovic and Arn "Paralyzer" Schliirmann with having a good eye for talent. The two producers from Hamburg met Jasmin at a German New Wave party in the Hanseatic city and were immediately encapsulated by her naturalness and temperament. Were the two producers able to imagine that the schoolgirl would not suffer from nerves even in front of thousands of enthusiastic teenagers (during her extended tours) and an audience of millions (during interviews, as a guest on "Wetten, daß...", a German television show, or as the presenter of the RTL "Mini Playback Show")? Today we know for certain: Blümchen has a very rare, even exceptional natural talent for both music and communication. How many highly-talented musicians, especially in Germany, fail because they are unable to cope with being in the public limelight? And how often have we seen charming media-friendly acts not managing to release one genuine hit single, let alone a complete album making an impact on the charts? But let's get back to Blümchen. The winner of several BRAVO Otto awards did not come of age until last year and has already released three LPs. As unpretentious as the two previous albums ("Herzfrequenz" and "Verliebt..."), the 13-track album has the short but sweet title "Jasmin" and, as well as the trademark up-tempo songs, it also covers new musical ground. The album contains ballads, house-style songs, groovy tracks and songs in an ultramodern electro-style to make "Jasmin" a fantastic pop album made in Germany which does not lose the optimistic spirit of her previous offerings. From October to December '98 Jasmin toured Germany for the third time with great success and a massive show. On 4 March 1999 Blümchen received the ECHO, the coveted German recording industry academy award, for the second time in the "Most successful German female artist 1998" category. Blümchen's rivals this year were: Nena, Nicole, Doro and Sabrina Setlur. Two years ago Blümchen had also taken home an ECHO as "Most successful German female artist". After two gold albums and 13 hit singles, the 19 year old from Hamburg really deserved another ECHO. The success just won't stop... In May '99 Blümchen's album "Jasmin - Die Fanedition" was released. After this all was a little quiet on the Blümchen front in Germany because she spent two months in the USA. But now she's back with a power-charged Christmas single. The current single "Unterm Weihnachtsbaum" is a song with which Blümchen will really shake people up during this thoughtful and quiet time of the year. In the video Jasmin plays the main role in a wonderful fantasy Christmas fairytale. The single, of course, can also be heard on her latest album "Blümchen - Live in Berlin". As the title says, the album was recorded during the Berlin concert as part of the Jasmin tour at the end of 1998. As well as old Blümchen classics like "Boomerang", "Herz an Herz", "Gib" mir noch Zeit" and many others, the classics "Du und Ich", "Blaue Augen", "Kleiner Satellit" and "Bicycle Race" can be heard as a medley. Blümchen live – just what the fans have been waiting for! In 2000 the album "Jasmin" was discovered by listeners outside Germany as well. The single "Heut ist mein Tag" reached Goldstatus in Sweden and Norway where it was #1 for 4 weeks! Blümchen travelled to the Scandinavian territories to promote the album on TV and in concerts. Jasmin returns on the scene with a brand new single. A departure from the straight stomper style of earlier hits, but still faithful to the fun and carefree youth pop attitude, her new single "Ist Deine Liebe Echt" ("Is Your Love Real") is the first one from the upcoming album "Die Welt Gehört Dir" ("The World Belongs To You", out this summer). The groovy pop song comes in two different mixes, one from longtime Blümchen producer Paralyzer, the other from Jeopard, who already produced songs for German artists like U 96 and Falco. A European tour is planned for late 2000 / early 2001.
